With our communication abilities relying more often on mobile technology, we are now in more places while doing our business. Attending a networking meeting requires us to be in a certain area at a certain time.  Nowadays, that is not always convenient and possible with our busy schedules.

So for 2012 - the Tsawwassen Business Association is coming to you.  At your desktop, smartphone, tablet etc.

Using the common applications that have now integrated into our business lives

TBA, will be networking and facilitiating discussions via Linkedin.  We will be keeping you updated with progress around initiatives and volunteering with Twitter.  We will promote upcoming seminars, policy discussions and forums with Facebook.  And through the use of streaming video, bring you live and archived meetings, events and plenary sessions. 

Efforts of the past two years are showing great results!  in 2009 The TBA began an initiative to create awareness for the Arts and Culture in Tsawwassen.  

Since then, there has been a music venue created where bands play regularly.  The Stage @ the Tsawwassen Legion showcases live music Friday and most Saturdays.  The live blues jam runs every Sunday from mid September to mid May.

Live dance has been presented in multiple formats.  Ballroom and social dance is established at Kin Village.  There you can take lessons or drop in for a night of practice and fun.  Flamenco has caught the attention of woman and men who are keen to explore the roots and history of this powerful form of expression.  Los Gitanos School of Flamenco dance hosts and annual show and workshops.

Live theatre at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre always gets rave reviews.  Sidekick Players now present at least three productions throughout the year.

Now a new musical festival has been added to the list of great entertainment in the community.  The SunFest Music Festival is to become an annual event that will coincide with the yearly BC Day long weekend favorite Tsawwassen Sun Festival.  This year there are 8 venues, 30 acts and over 70 musicians performing from Friday July 29th through the long weekend Monday August 1st.  

The artists are primarily from the South Delta area.  From youth performers (Delta Youth Orchestra) to seasoned veterans.

"The goal is to build upon this format and make the event even larger next year", said Dave McIlroy - Artistic Director of the Festival and President of the TBA.  We will hold qualifier events through the year to place acts for the next festival.  This way the artists have a chance to play for their community and the favorites can be selected for the "big showcase" during the Sun Festival weekend".

THE DELTA OPTIMIST FEBRUARY 12, 2011

Tsawwassen-based band Six to Midnight has been busy over the last year.

Since the group's local Haiti earthquake relief fundraiser show last January, the four-piece has played gigs in Vancouver and got down to work on a debut EP.

The band has plans to put on a show February 26th at The Stage - Tsawwassen Legion 289.  Behind McDonald's.  Check out more event details on the Facebook event page

After a brilliant first year hosting Sunday Blues Jams, Tsawwassen Legion is once again hosting at "The Stage".  Beginning Sunday October 24th The Stage will feature some of the best local musicians as well as guests that arrive from all over Metro Vancouver.  There is no cover charge or entry fee to play, just bring your instrument and sign in.  If you don't play come on down and listen, find out why some are calling this the best music venue outside of the Yale Hotel.  The music goes from 5:00 pm until about 8:30 pm every Sunday.

Delta 88 - The official Halloween Party 

Last time these guys played in town it was standing room only and that was without costumes.  Halloween Saturday at the Stage (costumes optional) is the place to be for Blues, Soul and Funk.  Playing to rave reviews this past summer at Sun Festival - Main Stage, Delta 88 are one of the hippest bands on the West Coast.   Recently featured backing up local legend Jerry Doucette, the band has an infectious groove that will keep you dancing all night.  This go round the boys are featuring Gil Herman (saxophone) and Oliver Conway (lead vocals).  No need to leave town for the hottest entertainment bar none.  Think Globally - Listen Locally and get home safely, local bus runs every 30 min or it's a $10 cab ride to just about anywhere.  Tickets are still available at the time of this posting and will be sold at the door.  $10 per person or $15 per couple.  Show starts at 8:00 pm

The Young People's Concert Series starts a new season next Saturday at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre.

Producer Michelle Jones is pleased to present another edition of the Delta Arts Council series, which showcases a variety of talented young performers in monthly themed concerts in music, dance and drama.

The season premieres with singer-songwriters, mostly from South Delta, performing original works.

There are seven concerts in the 2010-11 season. The concerts are held monthly at the Tsawwassen Arts Centre. Dates are:

Back by popular demand are The Diplomats.

Playing your favorite music for all styles of dancing.  If you are found of Latin dance steps, you will hear Cha Cha Cha, Rumba, Salsa, Tango and Samba.  If you are a 50's dance fan, come out and jive to the hits from American Graffiti.  Classic Fox Trot, and Swing to melodies that will bring back great memories.  Come on out to one of Metro Vancouver's best dance floors.

Tickets at the door are only $15 and if you are a member of Kin Village $13.

There is a host bar serving mixed drinks, beer and wine.

The band will start playing at 7:30 pm
