Objective:
Our focus for 2010 is to build a more vibrant community through business initiatives which support Arts and Culture. Utilizing existing facilities, events, funding resources and volunteer base we will solidify the community of Tsawwassen / S. Delta, as a destination for arts and entertainment. By creating consistency in scheduling, location and entertainment genres, we will be in a position to better promote these events as tourism driven initiatives. The businesses of Tsawwassen / S. Delta will benefit through merchandising and marketing opportunities that tie into the events. As well those businesses wishing to be benefactors to the arts will have a model to measure results by and a direct correlation to their brand and goodwill within the community. The citizens will benefit from the cultural enhancements which in turn create a sense of community pride and accomplishment. Local artisans and performers will benefit because whenever possible we will look to showcase these individuals, further enhancing the spirit within the community by celebrating our rich diversity and place.
Action:
Our first action is to produce a series of musical events. The Blues Music Series and The Ballroom Dance Series. Each of these events has a facility which will be the host location. For Blues Music the facility is the Royal Canadian Legion, for Ballroom Dance the facility is Kin Village at the Kinsmen Centre Tsawwassen. The events will be on Friday and Saturday nights respectively. Each series will consist of four performances to be held over the next 90 days. The talent showcased in these series is professional or semi professional and of the highest caliber.
